Ordinary committee members
Committee members play a role in the smooth running of SCVA. This involves participating in committee meetings (usually 3 to 6 times per year online, if in-person events are arranged expenses will be provided). At the meetings the committee plans SCVA activities, which are driven by suggestions from the membership. There is scope to develop your interests in providing opportunities to bring together charity veterinary professionals to help and learn from each other.
The committee members role can include assisting with some of the following:
• Increasing awareness about SCVA, shelter medicine, and charity practice within the professions, undergraduate students, and allied organisations.
• Planning, organising and promoting CPD events (including, but not only, our annual conference).
• Running or contributing to SCVA social media activity, including our members only forum.
• Running or contributing to the SCVA website.
• Collecting and supplying information and resources for members.
• Representing SCVA at other events and to other organisations, such as the BSAVA affiliates group.
Nominations welcome from full members who are vets or RVNs.

Student
Our student committee member has a similar role to ordinary committee members, with a focus on communication between the students and the committee and wider profession in charity practice.
-
Creating a student focus to social media outreach.
-
Maintaining contact between SCVA and relevant student societies.
Nominations welcome from current vet students, student VNs, or postgraduate students. The term is also for three years, but you will step down in the February of the year you graduate if that comes sooner.
